Planet Ford 635 | Congrats Leadership Garland Grads

Randall Reed’s Planet Ford 635 is proud of Leadership Garland Class 43. Our Ford (serving Garland, Dallas, Rockwall, Rowlett, Richardson, Plano) was honored to sponsor the graduation celebration the class advisors and the 28 individuals who completed the program through the Garland Chamber of Commerce.

Planet Ford 635 knows how beneficial this program can be. It’s hard to believe but both Sheena Sharapata, community relations/hiring & training director, graduated Class 36 and Suzanne Baker, general sales manager, graduated Class 37!

One of the state’s most successful and longest-running leadership training programs, Leadership Garland equips participants with the skills and perspectives they need to contribute to their community as effective business and civic leaders.

Through active participation and hands-on experiential learning, each year’s attendees will learn practical leadership skills, understand more about their local city, regional and state context and discover opportunities to apply their skills in the local community.

Planet Food 635 was proud to lend support. Sheena helped plan the graduation and spoke on her Leadership Garland experience, including how it introduced her and Planet Ford 635 to several non-profits in the community as well as many phenomenal individuals who make a huge impact in the Garland, TX community.

In addition, she was able to share the upcoming inaugural Garland 9th Street Gym Project – Developing The Future event at the Curtis Culwell Center on July 19th with 12 sanctioned matches through USA boxing that is hosted by Planet Ford 635. Currently, 32 Tables of 10 have been SOLD and 5 Tables of 10 remaining with Dinner from Desperados Mexican Restaurant. Our goal from 370+ individuals and companies coming together is to raise $60,000+ to support the gym mission, provide nutritional snacks for athletes, provide up to date equipment, provide essentials for boxing and karate, provide travel costs for student athletes competing in Texas and across US to win titles and grow the program for students and athletes looking for a place to call home.

Ford Pro Drives Away with 8 Awards at 19th annual Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards

Planet Ford 635 in Garland (serving greater Dallas, Rockwall, Mesquite, Richardson, Plano, Terrell) is excited to share more Ford award-winning news. This time, Ford Pro led the pack winning eight awards — that’s double the amount of any other brand — at the 19th annual Vincentric Best Fleet Value in America Awards.

“Our customers depend on Ford commercial vehicles to get the job done while bringing added value to their fleet,” said Tim Baughman, general manager of Ford Pro North America. “This recognition by Vincentric underscores Ford’s commitment to building vehicles to do just that and demonstrates how going electric can be good for business and the planet.”

2024 has been another hallmark year for Ford Pro’s fleet award dominance:

  • 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro Supercrew 4WD – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 1/2-Ton Pickup segment (ninth time for F-150)
  • 2024 Ford F-250 XL Reg Cab 2WD – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 3/4-Ton Pickup segment (fourth time, second consecutive for F-250)
  • 2024 Ford F-350 XL Reg Cab 2WD SRW – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 1-Ton Pickup segment (eighth time, fifth consecutive for F-350)
  • 2024 Ford T350 Vans XLT Low Roof RWD 148 – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 1-Ton Passenger Van segment (third time, second consecutive for T350)
  • 2024 Ford T150 Vans Cargo Low Roof RWD 130 – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 1/2-Ton Cargo Van segment (fourth time, second consecutive for T150)
  • 2024 Ford T250 Vans Cargo Low Roof RWD 130 – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 3/4-Ton Cargo Van segment (fourth time, second consecutive for T250)
  • 2024 Ford E-Transit 350 Base Cargo LR 130 WB – Best Fleet Value in America: Full-Size 1-Ton Cargo Van segment (third consecutive)
  • 2024 Ford Maverick XL Supercrew FWD – Best Fleet Value in America: Small Pickup segment (third consecutive for Maverick)

Ford Pro sales trends indicate that forty percent of commercial customers are repeat 24MY F-150 Lightning customers, and the E-Transit marked its best sales quarter ever as America’s best-selling electric van.

Transit continues to demonstrate its versatility and capability, with more than 1.2 million units produced at the Kansas City Assembly Plant since April 2014. Remarkably, 99% of all Ford Transits sold over the past decade are still operational today, emphasizing their durability and enduring value.

Vincentric, a privately held automotive data compilation and analysis firm, measures vehicle cost of ownership using eight factors: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs.

Mustang Turns 60 & Turns Up Pony Power

Sixty years never looked so good… and the 2024 Ford Mustang is getting a little flash back and it rolls into the future in celebration of its pony-power heritage. Our team at Planet Ford 635 in Garland is excited to share this 60th anniversary news.

New Mustang Heritage Gauge Cluster

Through software updates, Ford is giving 2024 Ford Mustang customers the ability to select a heritage-inspired 1967-1968 gauge cluster that combines the best parts of Mustang throughout the years for a timeless, classic feel.

Hundreds of individual Mustang gauge clusters spanning multiple iconic years were evaluated to create this new Heritage Gauge Cluster. A realistic chrome render wraps these gauges, just like the polished metal used in 1967-1968.

The update is rolling out now. For customers, don’t forget that to receive this and future updates, turn ‘On’ Automatic Software Updates and set a recurring schedule in the Software Updates Settings menu.

Amid the roar of engines at the iconic Charlotte Motor Speedway, Ford is about to hit the accelerator on a new Mustang experience – with owners and fans at the center of it all.

The Mustang Experience Center, set to open next year, will be the destination for all things Mustang, whether it’s hitting the track, snagging some merch, or soaking in the rich six-decade history of Mustang.

“Mustang has always been about more than just the car; it’s the experiences that come with it, from road trips to track days to cars & coffee. Mustang Experience Center is poised to become a special gathering place for the Mustang community, weaving the spirit of the car and Charlotte Motor Speedway together to create new memories.”-Matt Simpson, Ford Enthusiast Vehicles general manager

The addition of the Mustang Experience Center is also driving an expansion of hands-on track instruction at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Ford Performance Racing School’s Mustang Unleashed, a new program for Mustang EcoBoost and GT, builds on the Dark Horse Track Attack program so all 2024 Mustang owners can learn how to get the most fun and performance out of their cars.

Adjacent to the Charlotte Motor Speedway, Mustang Experience Center’s blend of automotive culture and celebration will feature a Ford Heritage Gallery to celebrate all 60 years of Mustang history, an aftermarket parts shop, retail store for Mustang merchandise, and conference space for corporate events. The Mustang Experience Center can even host weddings, because like the car it celebrates, it’s about creating great memories.

Spanning nearly 2,000 acres, the Charlotte Motor Speedway boasts a 2.25-mile road course and a quarter-mile oval nestled within its 1.5-mile Superspeedway. The speedway also offers a four-tenths clay oval, the renowned four-wide zMAX Dragway, and the exciting addition of a new 1.7-mile road course set to open this quarter.

The Mustang Experience Center joins other unique Ford owner experiences like F-150 and Ranger Raptor Assault School and Bronco Off-Roadeo, the latter which recently opened to non-owners.

Sixty years and seven generations after the Ford Mustang debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Ford is celebrating the heritage of one of the most iconic vehicles in automotive history with a limited-edition Mustang 60th Anniversary package.

The Ford Mustang 60th Anniversary package is only available for the GT Premium with 5.0-liter V8 and will be available on both coupe and convertible models with either manual or automatic transmissions.

Building upon the iconic design cues that have defined the Mustang, it features a unique dash plaque and exclusive exterior features that create a special look and feel that brings classic accents of the original car that debuted in 1964 into the modern era.

“The design was directly inspired by the clean silhouette of the original car,” said Stefan Taylor, senior designer. “During the design process, we looked closely at the finely detailed elements of the 1965 Mustang, like the fender badges and wheel center caps. Our focus was capturing the feel of the ‘65, while also staying true to the Mustang as the modern sports car that it is.”

Green News: Ford Sustainability Design Award

Planet Ford has some great green news! The Society of Plastics Engineers has granted a team at Ford their sustainability award for its clever redesign of the Ford Mustang Mach-E® frunk insert. Ford’s dedicated team simplified the frunk design and drastically increased post-consumer recycled content. Created from recycled packaging including and weighing the approximate equivalent of 115 post-consumer use yogurt cups, the frunk tub for the 2023 model year goes from six pieces to one, reduces the weight by over 6.6 pounds, and drastically cuts the part cost.

“We are so proud of this team for seeking opportunities like this to deliver win-win solutions for the environment, customers, and Ford,” said Donna Dickson, Mustang Mach-E chief program engineer. “Our customers love the Mustang Mach-E and this action is a great example of how we’re not resting on our laurels, but working to make each aspect of the vehicle better every single day, whether that’s new hardware like this change or over-the-air software updates.”

Increasing the sustainability of plastics in vehicle design can help to make a beneficial impact on the environment – some estimates show that recycling plastic can reduce the carbon footprint of some plastics by 70-90%.*

“Beyond reducing tailpipe emissions from our vehicles, we are committed to increasing recycled and sustainably sourced content in our vehicles,” said Cynthia Williams, global director sustainability, homologation and compliance at Ford. “Our aspiration is to use only recycled or renewable plastic content in our vehicles, and this innovation helps bring us closer to that goal.”

Ford’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality across its vehicles, manufacturing facilities and global supply chain no later than 2050.  Ford was among the first American automakers to include its global supply chain on the Manufacture 2030 platform, inviting 3,000 Tier 1 supplier sites to participate in the program designed to help them measure, mitigate and reduce emissions. Between 2019 and 2022, Ford reduced its overall Scope 3 emissions, which include emissions from suppliers, products and other non-facility sources, by an estimated 23 percent.*
