Remember Pet Safety
Since we are entering the Holiday season, many will be traveling with their companions, here are a few safety reminders when traveling with your pet(s):

Buckle Up– Keep your favorite companion safe by securing them in their own seat belt.

Crates– Sometimes our animal can be overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of a car ride, bringing their home on the road can be a good idea for the fur-ball that don’t travel the best.

Sticking to Barriers– Pets love to be by our side and riding shotgun, but if you have an excited and anxious pet who wants to give you kissing or be in your lap, setting up barriers would be ideal for both. There are many different types of barriers that can be installed in all vehicles.

Take Breaks– Even your pet has to take a potty break on road trips. Make sure you’re prepared with a leash and put time away to stop and let them take care of business. Dehydration is very common in dogs, be sure to have water available for your pup.

Entertainment– Just like kids, pets can get bored on long road trips, pack their favorite chew toy and bone for them to enjoy on the ride.

Temperature Check– If you leave your dog in the car be sure to first check the temperature, what feels like a warm day outside won’t feel like a warm day inside.

Ford’s Standard Driver Assist Suit Co-Pilot360 Coming Soon

There was a reason riding shotgun was implemented by stagecoaches. The phrase has gone under many new meanings throughout the years, but at its core, it still has the same principles. Now, Ford has taken the assistance of the shotgunner and turned it into a suite of technologically advanced features that will come standard on every Ford vehicle.

So long are the days of needing your buddy looking over their shoulder and relying on their information, after all, humans are… human. Plus, at Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford, customers want the latest and greatest automotive technology.

Earlier this year, Ford introduced Co-Pilot360, its advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands. Co-Pilot360 aims to help people around the world more safely and confidently face congested roads.

“Though our vehicles today are safer than ever, drivers tell us they are still stressed about getting in a potential accident,” said Jim Farley, Ford president, Global Markets. “That’s one reason why we’re making these must-have technologies accessible to millions of customers each year.”

Most Advanced Standard Driver Assist Package

The advanced tech suit includes:

  • standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection,
  • blind spot information system,
  • lane keeping system,
  • rear backup camera and auto high beam lighting.

This combination of assist features isn’t offered on non-luxury competitors in as standard in North America. Ford Co-Pilot360 will roll out across Ford’s new passenger cars, SUVs and trucks up to F-150 in North America, and will appear on the new 2019 Ford Edge and Edge ST this fall (very, very soon).

Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert Yes No No No
Lane Keeping System Yes Yes Yes No
Auto High Beam Yes Yes No No

Ford Co-Pilot360 starts with standard automatic emergency braking – called pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection – that can help drivers avoid collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians who might accidentally cross in front of the vehicle’s path. If a potential collision is detected, a warning flashes and an alert sounds, and if the driver’s response is not sufficient, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help minimize a frontal collision.adaptive cruise control with lane centering comes standard

The technology addresses Ford research showing a growing trend of people worrying about hitting pedestrians – and will be standard on 91 percent of Ford vehicles in North America by 2020.

Blind spot information system, or BLIS, uses radar to identify a vehicle entering the blind spot and alerts the driver with an indicator light in the side-view mirror. Cross-traffic alert can warn drivers of traffic behind when slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway.

Lane keeping system has three functions:

  • The first can notify drivers through steering wheel vibration that they need to correct course when the system detects the vehicle drifting close to lane markings
  • The second provides steering torque to steer back toward the center of the lane
  • Third, a driver alert system, continuously monitors driving pattern using a forward-looking camera and provides visual and audio warnings when the system estimates the driver’s vigilance level to be less than that of an attentive driver

Ford's Co-Pilot360 suit comes standardCommercial customers can also benefit from Ford’s expansion of driver-assist technologies. By 2020, E-Series, F-650 and F-750 and even our F59 chassis will come with available automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, driver alert system and more.

A National Transportation Safety Board study shows having technologies such as AEB can help prevent and mitigate rear-end crashes, which can help customers lower their cost of ownership.

“Our commercial customers trust our trucks to get the job done,” Farley said. “And soon, we’ll be giving them another reason to trust us even more.”

Trusting Future Tech

Ford will continue to introduce new driver-assist technologies. Next year, it plans to debut in North America and Asia Pacific automatic emergency braking for when drivers are in reverse.

The company also is investing $500 million the next five years to continue developing new driver-assist and safety technologies. Key areas of focus will be simplifying the technologies so they work as people expect – especially as driving controls become more automated.

Researchers test the user experience with many new technologies at Ford’s VIRTTEX driving simulator in Dearborn and run new systems through a battery simulations built from more than hundreds of thousands of miles of testing across the country. For example, engineers tested a recent suite of radar and camera technologies for more than 660,000 miles across the globe.

This work also will help people become more comfortable with the idea of autonomous vehicles.

“Many people question the idea of autonomous vehicles,” Farley said. “But those who use advanced driver-assist technologies today say they are more open to cars doing all of the driving in the future.”

As we get further into the 21st century, the need, want and availability for advanced driving assist features will continue to grow, and with Ford’s continued work as an industry leader in implementing new technologies into their vehicle lineups, you can count on Ford to always lead the way in industry safety standards.

Keep an eye out for the 2019 Ford Edge and Ford Edge ST with Co-Pilot360 to hit our lot this fall. For more information, visit Prestige Ford (serving Richardson, Rockwall, Plano, Garland, Wylie, Mesquite) off 635 and Shiloh.

Buying Vs. Selling: Which One Is Best Suited For You?

To buy or not to buy and lease? That is the question. The answer? It’s really about what is best for you. Here at Prestige Ford, we want to give you the best option that suits your needs and lifestyle. It’s a big decision, but we’re here to help buying or leasing easier!

Benefits of Leasing

With leasing, you’re not tied down to one car for years and years. You sign the contract for however long you want and for how many miles you will drive it. Then, when that lease is up, you get to trade it for a brand new car. New car and new tech. Shorter terms also means unexpected maintenance like brakes, transmission or suspension is typically covered under the warranty.

Benefits of Buying

You own it. So you can drive as much, as far and as long as you want. Unlimited miles. Zero restrictions. You can also customize any part of your vehicle, from accessories to performance parts, just make sure it doesn’t void any warranties you may have! And remember, when it’s paid off, it’s completely yours. Forever and ever. Or until you decide you want to buy something new.

Decisions, Decisions

If you’re the kind of person who trades in vehicles every four years or so, or perhaps the type that is really only looking for a weekend car that you wont put a lot of miles on, then leasing might be for you.

But, if you’re more of a buyer, one who holds on to things for awhile and somebody who likes to customize or personalize, or one who drives everywhere and packs on the miles, then buying is definitely better suited for you.

Whether you know or need more info, Prestige Ford, located at Shiloh and 635 (serving Rockwall, Rowlett, Wylie, Garland, Plano, Richardson), is here to help. We have financing experts that can help you find what is right for you. Take the drive on 635 or shop online anytime at PrestigeFord.com.

Ford Unveils Four New Special Edition SUVs At State Fair of Texas

Ford unveils four 2019 special-edition SUVs available nationally – Explorer Limited Luxury and Desert Copper Editions as well as Expedition Stealth and Texas Editions

At Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford, we already know that everything is bigger and better in Texas. That includes our drivers’ needs for sport utility vehicles. Demand for Ford SUVs continues to climb across the United States, but drivers from Dallas to Houston continue to show why the Lone Star State is so important to automakers’ SUV portfolios.

State Fair of Texas

2019 Ford Explorer Limited Luxury Edition

It’s opening weekend at the State Fair of Texas and Ford is celebrating their SUV success and being the best-selling vehicle brand in Texas by unveiling four new special edition SUVs designed to give buyers a larger selection of options in the vehicles they already love.

“Texans love their SUVs and these four special-edition models were created very much with them in mind,” said Craig Patterson, large SUV marketing manager at Ford. “Each of these vehicles is a proof point that Ford takes seriously the need to continuously freshen an SUV lineup that is so popular with so many.”

All four new special-edition models shown at the State Fair of Texas will be available for order later this year. These models include:

  • Expedition Stealth Edition features gloss-black accessories for a cool yet upscale appearance over the current Limited series. It rolls on 22-inch premium black-painted aluminum wheels and includes continuously controlled damping. Gloss-black features include grille, mirror caps, roof rails, running boards, tailgate appliqué, rear bumper skid plate and hitch cover, headlamp housing, fog lamp bezels and taillamp housing. Black “Expedition” badging adorns the front, while the tailgate features a black “Limited” badge. Door handles are body color, and red interior stitching accents the interior
  • 2019 Ford Expedition Stealth Edition (White)

Expedition Texas Edition adds 22-inch wheels and new Texas Edition badging to build upon the existing Special Edition Package available for Limited models that already offers a collection of features to make hauling, towing and parking easier. These include the Cargo Package, Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and enhanced active park assist

Ford looks to continue offering more of the vehicles that consumers say they want with its expanded lineup. More and more drivers are turning away from traditional sedans in favor of larger trucks and SUVs that offer more space, amenities and capability.

“People want SUVs, they’ve told us that,” Patterson said. “Whether an adventure-minded individual, a couple who needs room to haul home improvement supplies or a family loading up for a trip across the country, SUVs are in demand. Ford wants to have an SUV available that caters to any circumstance.”

When you’re done having fun at the State Fair of Texas, head down 635 to the Garland Road and exit Shiloh (serving Garland, Plano, Wylie, Rockwall, Rowlett) to get state-fair size savings on your own dream Ford. Our award-winning team is always here to help you save! www.PrestigeFord.com

Ford Celebrates 100 Years of Manufacturing At Legendary Plant, The Rouge

The Rouge

A legendary “city” amongst American history. It’s where the industrial revolution took hold. It survived two world wars and 18 recessions. The Rouge helped build America’s middle class with the $5-a-day wage. It survived the deadly explosion of 1999. At one point, it was suggested that it should be shut down in the early 2000’s. So despite all of this – and because of all of this – the Rouge has lived on.

A collection of vehicles manufactured throughout the years at Ford’s Rouge complex. Front row (left to right): 1930 Model A Deluxe Coupe, 1924 Fordson Model F, 2018 F-150 Diesel Platinum, 1965 Mustang GT Hardtop. Second row: 1969 Cougar Convertible, 1936 Ford Deluxe Fordor Sedan, 1964 Ford Ranchero, 1962 Mercury Meteor Custom 4-Door Sedan, 1982 Mercury Capri GS, 1972 Ford Maverick 4-Door Sedan. Third row: 1957 Fairlane 500 Club Victoria, 1964 Falcon Sprint Hardtop, 1971 Mercury Comet GT, 1932 Model 18 DE Luxe Coupe (V-8), 1956 Thunderbird, 1939 Deluxe Convertible Sedan, 1959 Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner. Fourth row: 1956 Customline Tudor Sedan, 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Tudor Sedan, 1949 Ford Station Wagon, 1954 Customline Tudor Sedan, 1940 Mercury 8 Sedan Coupe, 1932 Model B Pickup

And now, Ford’s super manufacturing complex celebrates 100 years as an American icon.

“To us, it’s more than a factory,” said Bill Ford. “It’s a source of pride for generations of workers who have built the best cars and trucks in the world. It’s an all-American symbol of strength, opportunity, and hope; a place where we’ve always been creating tomorrow together.”

Ford’s flagship plant is the only one in American history to produce vehicles – including ships, tractors and cars – non-stop for 100 years.

Into The Past

It all started many history-rich decades ago in 1918. The then brand new plant actually didn’t produce vehicles first. No, its first contributions to America belonged to the U.S. Navy, where it produced Eagle Boats during World War I. From the Model A, to the Mustang and F-150, the Rouge spent the next 100 years producing some of the world’s most innovative automotives.

Now, the facility’s 7,500 employees work three shifts round-the-clock to manufacture America’s best-selling vehicle – the F-150 pickup.

Into The Future

And as Ford commemorates the 100th year of production at the Rouge, it’s begun preparations for its next chapter innovative contributions, prepping the plant to produce a hybrid-electric F-150 in two years.

The Rouge helped build America’s middle class with the $5-a-day wage, provided jobs for disabled workers and profit sharing. Today, Ford and UAW are investing $35 million to expand a nearby facility to further train its workforce; Ford has opened a new $45 million Advanced Manufacturing Center to accelerate manufacturing innovation.

“Just as the Rouge has been a harbinger of progress for a century, Ford is committed to ensuring our trucks continue to power the world in a sustainable way – whether they are powered by EcoBoost engines, hybrid powertrains, or are fully electric,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company.

These technologies will continue to be produced at the plant using some of the latest technologies in robotics, 3D printing and virtual reality. All of this is thanks to Ford’s newly opened Advanced Manufacturing Center in Redford, Mich. This perfectly positions the Rouge to remain a remain a plant known for innovation, sustainability, efficiency and prosperity as it heads into its second century.

“New technology and innovation continue to be hallmarks of all Ford plants – inspired by what the Rouge has been known for during the past century,” said Joe Hinrichs, president of Global Operations. “We will continue finding new ways to apply new technology and tools to deliver high-quality vehicles for our customers and even more meaningful work for our hourly workers.”

Efficiency Leads Onward

These new tools aim to improve the already remarkable efficiency of the facility. Just how efficient are they? So, during the plant’s three-crew shift cadence, a new F-150 is produced every 53 seconds. Think about that for a second.

Ford’s innovations through the years have pushed the boundaries of the auto industry. Furthermore, Ford plans to once again add to its historical resume with plans to produce the first F-150 hybrid/electric truck at the Rouge in 2020. And beyond that, the Rouge will endure many more historical days, many more trials and tribulations; because of this–it will live on.

“…In many ways, the Rouge complex is the heartbeat of all that the American labor movement represents.” -Rory Gamble, UAW-Ford Vice President
