Each year, Consumer Reports releases a list of the best American-branded vehicles in each class, such as compact, crossover, etc. In 2015, Ford has taken the top spot in five different classes, more than any other manufacturer except for General Motors, which had five as well. These are rankings based on reviews of actual, everyday drivers, and if you feel like checking out one of these excellent vehicles, Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford in Garland, TX has a great selection available in our inventory.
The 2015 Ford Focus SE was ranked highest in the compact class with an overall score of 76. The Focus is a great choice for Dallas-area commuters due to its affordability, both at the dealership and at the gas pump. Offering a quiet, smooth ride, the 2015 Focus is available as a sedan or a hatchback, and the Focus Electric model provides an ultra-efficient and eco-friendly way to get around the DFW metroplex. Its 107 kW electric motor produces satisfying acceleration and range, and Ford also offers a 240-volt home charging station that charges the battery in as little as 3.6 hours. A portable charging station is also available.
The Ford C-Max SE hybrid received top honors in the wagon category, and with the team of testers reporting that they got 37 MPG it is easy to see why. The C-Max comfortably seats five and offers plenty of storage space for long family road trips. The engine transitions seamlessly between gas and electric power, and regenerative braking aids in recharging the battery every time you come to a stop. Dallas drivers will no doubt take interest in the Energi plug-in version of the C-Max as well, which has a larger lithium-ion battery and is capable of longer drives in electric mode.
The winner of the minivan category, with an overall score of 76, the Ford Transit Connect XLT is derived from the Ford Focus, as is the C-Max. The testers reported well-above-average headroom, and with comfortable seating for up to seven people “you’d be challenged to find more passenger space for the money.” Each model is available in a long wheelbase (LWB) or short wheelbase (SWB) option, and the ample cargo space makes it a great choice for families and small business owners alike.
The Ford Escape Titanium won the small-size SUV category, with the testing team citing its agile handling, smooth ride, and quiet cabin as its high points. The Titanium model comes standard with full leather heated front seats and SYNC with MyFord Touch, making for a comfortable, intuitive driving experience. The Escape’s spacious interior, turbocharged EcoBoost engine, and foot-activated rear lift gate make it an ideal choice for Dallas motorists who need an efficient and versatile vehicle that looks great and drives even better.
While it lacks the iconic blue oval, the Lincoln MKZ is nonetheless a product of Ford Motor Company, and it was named the top luxury mid-size sedan among American manufacturers. A full suite of active safety features, a smooth and powerful driving experience, and an elegant interior design make this a well-deserved win. If you want to see just why these cars were named #1 out of all their American-made competitors, come check out our selection at Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford in Garland and test drive one today!
