Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford has been proud to be part of the Garland Police Boxing Gym. We wanted to share one of the gyms many success stories.
The Garland Police Boxing Gym helps get kids off the streets, into the gym and focused on the right path. This program is run by Lt. Dave Swavey (photo above), volunteers and city professionals who provide tutoring and mentoring.
“They helping these kids grow, learn discipline and set their sites on their education,” said Justin Wright, GM/OP of Prestige Ford (serving Garland, Dallas, Mesquite, Rockwall, Rowlett, Richardson and Plano). Erendida Avellaneda (photo) has been a member of the police boxing program for 10 years. After she graduated from high school she then went on to graduate from UT Arlington in the ROTC program with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice. She will now enter the Army as a Second Lieutenant this spring. Ms. Avellaneda plans to go into the career field of Army Intelligence and eventually enter the CIA.
This is a wonderful program that helps students find and stay focused on a successful path. When the kids do well in school, they are rewarded which helps encourages them to keep growing and achieving their goals.
