Screen Shot 2014-06-25 at 2.09.28 PMEveryone knows the F-Series is the No. 1 truck in America for 37 Years and the 2014 Ford F-150 is king of the road in Texas. Now, J.D. Power has named it tops, as well. J.D. Power measures quality in terms of “problems per 100 vehicles.” To arrive at its results, J.D. Power surveyed more than 86,000 owners of 2014 model year vehicles after the first 90 days of ownership.

The Ford F-150 beat out the Toyota Tundra and RAM 1500 which fell behind in 2nd and 3rd place. The full-size pickup truck comes with a choice of three cab styles, four engines, and 11 different trim levels. Competitors like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Nissan Titan, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra don’t stand a chance against the 2014 F-150. See why the team at Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford in Garland agrees that the F-150 is America’s favorite truck!

Models and Features
With 11 different trim levels from which to choose, the F-150 can fulfill any want or need. The basic work truck, the XL, and the STX trim level (which adds more equipment combined with a sportier appearance) are offered alongside the SuperCrew cab style for the first time.

The F-150 XLT is much more equipped than the STX, featuring a traditional exterior appearance with chrome bumpers and a shiny grille. FX2 and FX4 versions feature XLT base with a sportier look an a powerful V8 engine. The Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim are designed to deliver additional luxury, technology, and personalization to the Ford lover that wants power and toughness without sacrificing interior comforts.

Two performance-oriented F-150 models are also on sale. The new 2014 F-150 Tremor is a regular cab, short-bed truck equipped with a turbocharged, EcoBoost V-6 engine and other mechanical upgrades. The SVT Raptor is an off-road-ready performance truck with significant styling and mechanical modifications.

Under the Hood
Four different engines are offered for the 2014 Ford F-150, depending on cab style, trim level, and other factors. Each is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with a tow/haul mode and delivering the power to the rear wheels (2WD) or all four wheels (4WD).

A 3.7-liter V-6 engine creates 302 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 278 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm, and is E85-compatible. It tows a maximum of 6,700 pounds, and can handle up to 1,930 pounds of payload.A turbocharged, 3.5-liter V-6 engine is also available for the F-150, dubbed EcoBoost by the automaker. It delivers 365 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,500 rpm, enough to tow up to 11,300 pounds and tote a payload weighing up to 3,100 pounds.

Screen Shot 2014-06-25 at 2.09.44 PMOther models include the 5.0-liter V-8 engine and the F-150 produces 360 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 380 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,250 rpm. Maximum towing capacity is 10,000 pounds, and maximum payload measures 3,120 pounds. The V-8 is also E85-compatible.Ford’s 6.2-liter V-8 cranks out 411 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 434 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm. It can handle a trailer weighing 11,300 pounds and a payload of up to 2,010 pounds. Note that because the 6.2-liter V-8 is offered only for SuperCab and SuperCrew versions, its maximum payload number is lower than the EcoBoost V-6 and 5.0-liter V-8.
