As summer draws near, we’re reminded on a seemingly weekly basis of the violent and unpredictable nature of Texas weather. Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford cares about our community and their safety, and we believe it’s important to be aware and prepared in the event of dangerous or unsafe weather. Our Ford dealership family would like to share a few tips to help you stay safe during the tumultuous weather season.
The American Red Cross (ARC) has prepared a guide to help you “Be Red Cross Ready” in the event of a weather emergency. We’ve prepared a brief rundown of a few of the key points from their guide (view the full document here).
- Get a kit: ARC suggests a handful of vital items to keep in a easy-to-carry kit, including water, non-perishable food, portable radio, first aid kits and more.
- Make a plan: Creating an emergency plan is a must for any family, as weather emergencies have a tendency to create a frantic environment. Meeting with your family and discussing emergency response and course of action is necessary to avoid disorganization, should an emergency occur. Check out the ARC Disaster Plan Template here.
- Be informed: Learn the type of emergencies or disasters that could occur in our area. It’s no secret that Texas experiences flash floods, heavy hail, severe thunderstorms and tornados, so keep this in mind as your prepare your kit and disaster plan.
Utilizing these tips will help you and your family be ready for whatever crazy weather Texas throws our way this season. Randall Reed’s Prestige Ford encourages you discuss these tips with your family in hopes of a safer severe weather season. Be “Red Cross Ready” and stay safe!
