Next month, Ford is ecstatic to be celebrating half a century of Mustang manufacturing by once again bringing the famous American muscle icon to the top of another famed American Icon, The Empire State Building. After achieving the such a task 50 years ago, Ford is at it again with this unique stunt using their all-new 2015 Mustang.
Since it’s introduction and subsequent Empire State visit in 1964, the Mustang has been a world-wide representation of true American muscle. Ford revealed the original Mustang in New York City, and the company is thrilled to bring it back to the Big Apple for a nostalgic trip to one of the world’s famous buildings. “New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it’s the place where the Ford Mustang story began 50 years ago,” said Mark Fields, Ford chief operating officer. “We’re thrilled to be visiting the architectural landmark that has been the heart of the Manhattan skyline for 83 years with the newest generation of the car that is the soul of Ford Motor Company.”
Despite a ton of technological improvements, getting a enormous hunk of American muscle to the observatory deck of an 86-story building in the middle of a crowded city is not exactly simple. Ford staff will seek to complete their goal the same way they did 50 years ago by dismantling the car to pieces that will fit in the elevator, then putting it back together on the top deck.
If you have plans to visit NYC in the near future, you should check out the all-new 2015 Mustang atop the Empire State Building on April 16 and 17th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Be on the hunt for the 2015 Mustang at Prestige Ford in Garland (also serving Rockwall, Mesquite, Richardson, and Dallas) later in 2014.
