Prestige Ford in Garland is proud to announce a $500 Medal of Honor donation to the AMVETS organization in Dallas.
AMVETS, formally American Veterans, is an organization that serves veterans by helping to protect their entitlements and maintain a respectable quality of life. AMVETS offers several forms of assistance to veterans and their families, including handling of issues regarding veteran compensation claims, an active role in public policy concerning veterans, aiding veterans in higher education, and veteran employment.
Contrary to many other veterans organizations, AMVETS is open to anyone who anyone who is currently serving or has honorably served in the United States Armed Forces since World War II. Since being founded in the 1944, AMVETS has grown to include over 180,000 members and 39 state departments.
The contribution went to the scholarship fund, which provides over $40,000 in financial aid each year. Annual awards go to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. Funds are also available to eligible descendants of a deceased veteran. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.
